Our Favorite Sesame Street YouTube Clips

We’ve started showing our toddler Sesame Street YouTube videos because we are human beings who enjoy peace and quiet. Here are a few she enjoys:

  1. Destiny’s Child Sings “New Way to Walk”

This is a really sweet video about walking. It teaches us the importance of marching to our own beat and seeing firsthand why Beyoncé has garnered global superstardom.  Even my 16-month-old says “this group is great, but there is really something completely enchanting about that insanely talented lady on the right.” She said that. It was her first complete sentence about pop stars who come out of Houston.

2. One Direction Sings About the Letter U (**TRIGGER WARNING: THIS VIDEO WAS FILMED WHEN ZAYN WAS STILL A MEMBER OF 1-D.)

This one is Valerie’s favorite. Mom and Dad like it too because there’s so little light in the eyes of these five chaps.

3. A-B-See Usher Do This Song in One Take Like the King That He Is

We all enjoy this video. It’s a fun, creative take on the ABCs and encourages kids to get up and move. Nate and I like to watch this because as 30-somethings, we had completely forgotten how intoxicatingly charismic Usher is. We now talk about Usher constantly. What a long, fruitful career! A child star who has remained normal and relatively absent from the (mainstream) gossip circle! Lots of behind-the-scenes business endeavors! A dad!

4. NAME THAT SONG (ft/ India Arie)

Ok, folks. This is a Valerie favorite. It’s India Arie singing what song?? Turned on closed captioning to give you a hint! Comment your guesses below. Winner gets an earful of Usher Fun Facts.
